Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, this commemorative release honours the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong (22–27 April 1951), a defining engagement of the Korean War—often referred to as the “forgotten war.” During this critical conflict, Australian troops of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), fought alongside United Nations forces to halt a major Chinese offensive aimed at recapturing Seoul.

Against overwhelming odds, Australian, Canadian, British, New Zealand and US forces combined to successfully repel the advance, securing a pivotal defensive victory that ensured Seoul remained under South Korean control.

The coin’s reverse design carries deep symbolic meaning. A striking floral motif, inspired by traditional Korean lattice patterns, forms the foundation of the artwork. Incorporated within the design are 32 poppies, each representing an Australian soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice at Kapyong—serving as a lasting tribute to their courage and sacrifice.

This uncirculated 50c coin is a poignant addition to any collection, commemorating bravery, international cooperation, and a battle that helped shape the course of the Korean War.

Shipping

We will endeavour to dispatch orders as soon as possible, please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery within Australia and 4-6 weeks overseas.

We requires full payment with order, plus all shipping/postage charges before we dispatch any goods.

All shipping/postage (including insurance) costs are subject to change without notice.

*Shipping charges for Australia is a flat fee of $9.95, except EQL launches, heavy items such as coin rolls, books, accessories and large quantities of coins and banknotes which will be charged at current Australia Post charges. We will advise you of these costs before shipping.

EQL Launches/New Releases. The regular Flat fee ($9.95) does not apply to EQL Launches. Shipping charges for EQL new releases will differ and this rate will be advised at the time of entry.

Free Shipping: On orders $350.00 and over made in one transaction for delivery within Australia only.

Free Express Upgrade: Domestic Australian orders over the value of $1000 will automatically upgrade to Express Post at no additional expense.

Returns/Refund/Cancellations

Any missing item, return or refund request must be put by email to sales@wynyardcoins.com.au within no more than seven (7) days of receipt.

Damaged Faulty. Wynyard Coin Centre will attempt to exchange (if available) or provide a refund for any items delivered damaged, faulty or unsatisfactory when returned in original, undamaged condition with all product components as supplied within seven (7) days of receipt.

Change of Mind. Cancelled items/orders for customer change of mind will be refunded less postage charges, merchant fees (PayPal 2.6%, VISA/Mastercard, Shop Pay, Apple Pay & Google Pay 1.6% + $0.30 or current equivalent rates) associated with accepting the original payment, and a 20% restocking fee to cover reasonable administrative and handling costs.

Prior to Dispatch: Requests to cancel an order must be made within seven (7) days of purchase.

After Dispatch / Delivery: Change of mind return requests must be made within seven (7) days of receipt. Approved returns must be received by us within fourteen (14) days of approval.

Items must be returned in original condition with all packaging and components as supplied.
