20c 2026 Service Amid Strife - Women's Services UNC
Issued by the Royal Australian Mint, this 2026 Coloured Uncirculated 20 Cent Coin commemorates the establishment of Australia’s women’s auxiliary services during the Second World War — a significant milestone in the nation’s military history.
In 1941, the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF) became the first of Australia’s women’s services to be formed. Established in March, the WAAAF grew rapidly throughout the war, with almost 27,000 women serving by its conclusion. Initially employed as telegraphists, members soon undertook a wide range of important roles including aircraft ground staff, mechanics, administration, radar and signals, stores and maintenance.
Soon after, the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) was established in April 1941 in response to a shortage of telegraphists within the Navy. Beginning with just 14 women stationed at HMAS Harman near Canberra, the WRANS expanded to more than 3,000 members by the end of the war.
In August 1941, the Australian Women’s Army Service (AWAS) was formed to release more men for overseas service. Around 24,000 women enlisted in the AWAS, with members serving in both Dutch and Australian New Guinea during 1944 and 1945.
Although these three services were disbanded following the war, they were reconstituted in the 1950s before eventually being integrated into the broader Australian Defence Force during the 1980s. Today, all military roles are open to women — a lasting legacy of the pioneering women who served during WWII.

We will endeavour to dispatch orders as soon as possible, please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery within Australia and 4-6 weeks overseas.
We requires full payment with order, plus all shipping/postage charges before we dispatch any goods.

*Shipping charges for Australia is a flat fee of $9.95, except EQL launches, heavy items such as coin rolls, books, accessories and large quantities of coins and banknotes which will be charged at current Australia Post charges. We will advise you of these costs before shipping.
EQL Launches/New Releases. The regular Flat fee ($9.95) does not apply to EQL Launches. Shipping charges for EQL new releases will differ and this rate will be advised at the time of entry.
Free Shipping: On orders $350.00 and over made in one transaction for delivery within Australia only.
Free Express Upgrade: Domestic Australian orders over the value of $1000 will automatically upgrade to Express Post at no additional expense.

Returns/Refund/Cancellations
Any missing item, return or refund request must be put by email to sales@wynyardcoins.com.au within no more than seven (7) days of receipt.
Damaged Faulty. Wynyard Coin Centre will attempt to exchange (if available) or provide a refund for any items delivered damaged, faulty or unsatisfactory when returned in original, undamaged condition with all product components as supplied within seven (7) days of receipt.
Change of Mind. Cancelled items/orders for customer change of mind will be refunded less postage charges, merchant fees (PayPal 2.6%, VISA/Mastercard, Shop Pay, Apple Pay & Google Pay 1.6% + $0.30 or current equivalent rates) associated with accepting the original payment, and a 20% restocking fee to cover reasonable administrative and handling costs.
Prior to Dispatch: Requests to cancel an order must be made within seven (7) days of purchase.
After Dispatch / Delivery: Change of mind return requests must be made within seven (7) days of receipt. Approved returns must be received by us within fourteen (14) days of approval.
Items must be returned in original condition with all packaging and components as supplied.
