On 1st November 1914 the departure of Australia's first convoy of 39 military ships which carried the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F) and the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF) who would later become known as the ANZAC's sailed from King George's Sound at Albany W.A to join the allied forces in the northern hemisphere. The biggest convy to have ever left Australia up until that time the fleet also consisted of carrying some 30 000 troops and approximately 8000 horses. Marking the centenary of the first A.I.F convoy on 1st November 2014 the Royal Australian Mint has struck a 99.9% pure silver one ounce one dollar and a 99.99% pure gold 1/10 ounce ten dollar proof.
