2008 marked the centenary of Scouts Australia. This al/bronze $1 coin was issued to recognise firstly the commitment and dedication shown by the many Australians who have been a part of this youth development organisation and secondly the contribution Scouting Australia has made to families communities and the nation.
The coin was launched in February 2008 as part of Founder's Day celebrations by the Honourable Senator Nick Sherry former Governor General Sir William Dean National President of Scouts Australia and Mr John Ravenhall AM Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia.
The reverse design features a pivotal scouting symbol the Australian Spirit Flame.
The coins were packaged in 20-Coin Mint Rolls wrapped in Royal Australian Mint paper displaying the Spirit Flame scouting symbol.
