1856 Sydney Mint Gold Half Sovereign FINE
Struck by the Sydney Mint dated 1856 during the height of Australia's gold rush this was one of the official gold coins issued from the original Rum Hospital in Sydney's Macquarie Street.
The obverse design features the young Queen Victoria with the filleted hairstyle which is referred to as the type one version designed by James Wyon. The reverse depicts Sydney Mint Australia within wreath and half sovereign in exergue designed by Leonard Charles Wyon.
